Shady billing practices. My experience with this facility has been nothing but issues. My daughter needed a frenectomy. Her dentist sent over a referral. They called to set the appointment up, and said I needed to bring her in for a preprocedure appointment for insurance. Ok. So we go to that appointment. Dr. looks at what he has to do and we set the procedure appointment up. She gets the procedure done. The insurance she had at that time covered mostly everything 100% BCBS CHIPs. 3 months later, I receive a bill for $650.00 with a note on it that says this is a non-covered procedure or something along those lines. What??? Why the heck did we go to a preprocedure appointment if it wasn’t covered? Why wasn’t I informed before hand? I would have budgeted this into my life as a single mom but to just flat out allow this precedure to happen knowing it wasn’t covered is bs. I called and talked to a super nice lady who thought maybe it was a mistake and that she would resubmit it to insurance and such. Ok awesome! Didn’t hear anything after that and thought it was a mistake. In the mail one day was a final notice. What? This place... I called there again. This time I spoke to the office manager. Terribly, horribly rude. I mean rude enough to put me in tears. I was pretty upset about this bill. I just felt it was wrong that they didn’t inform me. I’ve had dental procedures, a gum graft and braces. Each place (which by the way they are all amazing) submitted the procedure to the insuance before the procedure so I knew EXACTLY what I would be paying out of pocket. This place didn’t or does not do that. Anyway, back to Ms. Rude. I told her the last person I talked to said they would resubmit it to insurance. She rudely snapped back we don’t resubmit to insurance. I’m like what the heck? Someone I talked to said that. I found out later from one of the front desk ladies that it could have been this other woman who quit in June. (This was 2016 when this all took place.) So now I feel like she’s calling me a liar. I asked her if she could ask the doctor if they could write some of it off. Not a horrible request considering I went into this thinking it was fully paid. She told me no and basically said it’s been 5 months and you’ve had plenty of time to pay your bill. I was so angry, I was choking up. I pay my bills. All of them. She made me feel like I was some horrible person who doesn’t pay her bills. It was so bad, when I hung up the phone I could barely speak and my sister just so happened to call. I finally calmed down enough and was able to speak to her. I told her what happened. I’ve never heard so much anger in my sweet, outgoing sister’s voice. She ended up going there and basically giving that lady a piece of her mind. Something I don’t think I could have done and never thought she would do but she heard it in my voice how upset that woman had me. I wish I could remember her name...Sherry, Terry, Judy... something like that. Anyway, that lady heard it from my sister, and then she requested to speak the the doctor. He was good. He listened and calmed her and apologized for that woman’s actions. So after the first bill and before the “final bill” where I decided I will never do business there again, my oldest daughter needed her wisdom teeth out. Again, we had a preprocedure appointment “for insuance”. Upon leaving I asked and asked a couple times to confirm that there should be no bill right? Yes, yes it’s a 100% covered procedure. Please tell me why I got a bill for around $35.00 for a “therapeutic injection”? They lie. I even asked her about that, but nope... had to pay it even though I feel I shouldn’t have when they clearly informed me that it was covered at 100%. The two Dr Whitney’s are great. Please, please get a written preauthorization with the amount you’re responsible for in writing before you have anything done there. It’s sad because I like the docs, assistants/ nurses and the front ladies, but that one woman is a bad apple and has ruined it for me.
